How do you make your own ringtones?

How do you make them and how do you get them on the phone..... ITS A TRACFONE, and its prepaid...... I have plentful Mp3's on my computer how do i make them into ringtones for my crappy phone... I have a Windows XP is there anyway to make them with a program already located in the hardrive when you first buy the computer?

1. I use a program called WavePad (it's free) to cut the mp3's down to a 20 second ringtone, then use a USB cord and the appropriate software to transfer the ringtone to my phone. I have a Motorola V3m and use Motorola Phone Tools to transfer the ringtones. I got my software and USB cord on ebay for about $10 for both.
2. phonezoo.com i works great for me i have made about 6 ring tones on and its total free its cool. u sing up find your phone from the list of phones they have if u find your phone upload your mp3s and cut it in to move the start and end points it can be up to 20 seconds long and it send it as a text to your phone and show u how to download it
3. there is a program called bitpim which is free you can use to upload ringtones to your phone with a usb cable or you can text them to yourself and save them as ringtones to make them use a free program called wavepad you can select sections of songs to use as ringtones these programs can be found at download.com if you dont have a usb cable or an sd card in your phone im not sure how you can upload them but thats what i use
