how to convert mp3 files into ringtones?

i have a bunch of files that i put under "my sounds", but how can i get files into my tones? i have a micro SD card; is there anything i can do with that to help? I have an LGvx9900 (the enV) by the way.

1. Not sure how it works on your LG phone, but if your phone has mp3 playback functions then you should be able to use those mp3s as your ringtone. If your mp3 files are in your memory card, try transfering them to your phone memory. Then select that file, go to options and if u see "apply as" or "set as" ringtone. If you do just set it or apply as ringtone.

3. Well, I have an LG EnV. I use BitPim to make my ringtones, the program is free but requires a data cable to transfer info to your phone.
