On Itunes why cant you convert some songs into ringtones?

1. I'm not so sure about that but mine does that as well... but now I use http://www.myxertones.com for ringtones. you can upload any song/wallpaper and edit what you want for FREE. They have games, ringtones, and wallpapers for free.
2. do you have an iphone? i think only works for that phone!and you have to pay for that ringtones! i use Ventones (.com) its a free ringtones site!you can make your own ringtones, wallpapers,slide shows!all for free!
