How to get music into mp3 format?

I want to make my own ringtones. I am doing this through ventones. When I rip my cds using windows media player and try to upload them to ventones, I am getting an error telling me that I can only upload mp3 files, how do I get my music from my cd's into mp3 format?

1. You can use iTunes to convert the songs you want into mp3 format. or you can just download this programme : Video Convert Premier it can allow you to convert most of the types of the media files you want. Just google it and you will find it.
2. I recommend media-convert.com. There's nothing you need to download so it's very save, and not only does it convert music files it also converts other files and video, documents, and other stuff. Once your on the site it's pretty easy to figger out how to use it, but if your having trouble let me know.

4. If you are using Windows Media Player then do this: Hover your mouse over the tab at the top that says 'rip', and when you do it a small arrow pointing downwards should appear. Click the arrow and from the menu it gives you click on 'format' at the top. Click the one that says 'mp3' and when you do this all the tracks that you rip off the CD will be in mp3 format!
