Why does my verizon phone transfer MP3 formated ringtones into QCP format?

I have a Samsung U740 and i use Myxer.com or Mobile17.com to send ringtones to my phone. Worked fine at first, now every ringtone is transfered into QCP. I wouldnt have a problem except the ringtones sound really muffled. like they're underwater. How can i fix it? I called verizon and they said its not their problem as long as the ringtone is sent and received.

1. verizon does that for 2 reasons. 1) to reduce the file size of the ringtone. An mp3 ringtone is around 250kb, while a qcp is around 50kb. 2) the sound quality is bad, therefore forcing customers to go and buy the good mp3 quality ringtones from them
