how do i make mp3 ringtones ?

i have a metro MOTORKR so i can only use MP3z as ringtones and sometimes they dont have the songs i want on the download site i go to how do i make my own to upload for ppl ? i have METRO.. and i tried the site below but it said i had to pay.. i need something simple..

2. www.ventones(.com) is the site I use, but, the problem is that not all metro phones support free ringtones. what you can do is make the ringtone from Ventones, and then type in the link they send you (in your phone's browser). if not, do this Download the ringtone to your computer Connect your usb data cable to your phone Open your Windows Explorer, or your My Computer Icon Look for the new driver letter which represents the phone's memory Locate the ringtone from Ventones on your hard drive Drag and Drop it over to your My Sounds or your My Music Folder
3. You can also create your own ringtones at http://makeownringtone.com and transfer them to your phone via the USB cable that comes with the phone.
