How can I make my songs into ringtones?

I assume this is part of their stupid ploy to get me to purchase their ringtones. But they only have crappy choices! My phone has the ability to play music, and to set audio I record with it as ringtones. But it won't let me use my music files as ringtones. I can't think of any good reason why this is case. I think I may have to convert them from .m4a files to .amr I'm sure other people are annoyed by this, too. Anyone figure out how to do it? I have a "Samsung SYNC SGH-A707"

2. just get a ringtone software from the internet. go to www.google.com and type "ringtone software" and then take you choice.

You can upload your music files or pictures and later you can send it to your phone. They convert music files in ringtones. It is a cool site. Also, you can search for an specific song that another person already upload to the site.
