How can i make regular songs into ringtones?

I have micro SD chip and i can transfer songs to my PC to phone and i was wondering if anyone knew how to make regular songs into ringtones for my phone. By the way i have a LG CU500 if that helps any!!

I have the same phone with cingular. I bought a data pilot program that lets me make tones and sync my address book and calendar too.
you can buy the full song if you opt in for the data plan since songs take so much date/byts to ge tthem fully downloaded. A regular ring tone is only about 1/100th of the full song as the space allowed in the ringtone portion of the chip in the phone, is limited. Actually what you're doing is like the difference between a tiny little draw and a big empty closet; you need to buy the closet, the stuff wont fit in the small draws.
You will have to chop the song as most phones will not play the entire clip as it is too long. I use Polderbits software to cut the songs shorter. I take my mp3 file and convert to wma file and it works as a ring tone in my phone. Phones support different formats but with my Nokia 6133 it wont allow you to use mp3 files as ring tones.. Go to Mobile17.com..... all you have to do is register (it takes a second) and then you can upload any song from your computer, choose to part of the song you want to your ringtone, and then it's sent to your cell. This site is amazing.. and it's FREE. I will never spend money on a ringtone again after finding out about this site
